Buddhist Forum Etiquette
Although Buddhism teaches, and perhaps expects, that everyone is to be a light unto themselves,
we are nevertheless an electronic Sangha and I ask that you abide by some basic rules of
etiquette.
Every one of us that visits this Forum is participating in a global Sangha. A community of people
from all parts of the world, from all walks of life, and all levels of experience. Every one who
posts on this Forum becomes, perhaps unknowingly, a teacher to all of those who visit this web
site. It is therefore that I ask that you always treat others with utmost respect and dignity,
for by your own example you represent the enlightened spirit that we all wish to attain.
Often, we may become involved in heated debates. Remember where to draw the line on being firm
and correct, and being rude or condescending. Your "opponent" is a feeling human just as you
are, so don't become involved in ego-bashing ... know the difference between compassion and
giving no quarter. When you have mis-posted don't forget to apologize.
When you post on the Forum, please attempt to walk an a path that honors the Eightfold Path.
1. Samma-ditthi ....... right view
2. Samma-sankappa ..... right thought
3. Samma-vaca ......... right speech
4. Samma-kammanta ..... right action
5. Samma-ajiva ........ right livelihood
6. Samma-vayama ....... right effort
7. Samma-sata ......... right mindfulness
8. Samma-samadhi ...... right concentration
