"Maybe we finish here"

posted by Shine day to day

Gassho Zenner,

Maybe this discussion is coming to a natural end, it began because I wanted to deepen my understanding and test what I have understood in my studies.
In that regard it has been very helpful, thankyou.
I would like to say something further and if you want to comment then fine.
It seems to me that some might, when trying to understand the teaching on Emptiness and dependant arising, come to the conclusion that the Buddha was saying emptiness is the enlightened state. If I understand things correctly the teachings on emptiness allow one to see how and why the world exists as it does. This knowledge is the key to changing that reality and becoming a Buddha; the enlightened state is not one of nothingness.

Emptiness allows one to clear the mind of misconceptions and build one of correct perceptions.

I confess I do not know too much about the practices of Zen, but any contact I have had with their teachings doesnt suit my mind. I am certain for some minds with a disposition different to my own then the path zen offers will be valuable.
The Buddha taught in many ways because of the diversity of minds.
I think perhaps we will continue down our individual paths and maybe we will meet on common ground at various times I found this interesting dialogue that sheds light on our diffences or rather different approaches to the same territory.
