Gassho Richard,Bows to you my friend.
Id like to ask a few questions to clarify your view, please dont take any offence at a challenging line of questioning, its aim is to establish truth. I would appreciate if you would answer the questions directly as i feel them to be important."You cannot escape samsara."
So are we to throw out the third noble truth, the truth of the cessation of suffering?"as if samsara is bad and we must escape it and Nirvana is good and we must get there"
So you enjoy the fact that you suffer and the fact that others suffer, you dont want to change that condition? You dont want an all knowing completly bliss filled existance that is beyond death and untouched by suffering able to lead all beings away from suffering and into Nirvana?"They are both the same thing."
Its true the Buddha said they are the same thing but only in as much as they both rise in the mind, and are caused by ones Karma. they are completly different; are you telling me that a blissfilled mind that is surrounded by dakini angels and enlightened beings is the same as a soldier up to his ass in mud fighting to kill or be killed, or a mother sitting at the bedside of a child with luekemia watching them slip into death?Could you please give me a concise definition of what you understand dependant origination to mean.
"No words can explain, no words."
So the buddha didnt teach with words then?
"Don't try to escape, it will cause attachment and desire for this Nirvana and all you will bet is Dukkha: suffering."
oh OK so ill just sit down and let it happen?Come on Richard of course we got to want to escape samsara and of course we must have a desire to reach that far shore, these two things are the fundamentals of taking refuge.
I have to say Richard your friend Jim created a nice clean space here for conversation.Offer him my thanks. This emptiness allows the thread to rise nicely
I sincerely hope you put your mind on these questions and dont take them as an insult, Dharma is fun and i appreciate there are many interpretations of Buddha dharma but truth stands on two legs and solid foundations arent rocked by a little shaking!
