"The usefullness of "seeing" emptiness"

posted by shine day to day

Gassho Zenner,
"karma...I look at it,as I mentioned in a previous post.anything outside that,becomes conceptual,and zen abhores concepts.
emptiness...if one tries to graps it conceptually(through lot of talk) is of ABSOLUTELY no use..why ? because you would be forever outside of it.it is not a matter f "undertanding".."

Sorry Zenner but i find it hard to accept your view in this regard. The only thing that we can disscuss is conceptual...no concepts equals no conversation at all.
If one were fortunate enough to have a direct perception of emptiness one would undoubtedly try to describe the process in order to point others in the right direction.
If Zen abhores concepts then who is buddha? is it attainable? how would one be led in the right direction.? Why build a temple, wear a robe write a book?
Language is conceptual our whole experience of the world is conceptual it is ALL we have to work with.
Lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater!

Which of the schools views of of emptiness do you hold to be true?

It is necesary to gain an intelectual understanding to take one close enough before any direct realisation can come.

i was wondering how you see the process; it is said that the realization of emptiness is vital on the way to enlightenment. What is it about the realization that ends our suffering. What is the connection with the 4 Arya (Noble truths)?
How does it rid one of their mental afflictions?

Shine?
