Karma is a hindu thing....here is Zen's view of karma..
You were born, with a definite set of DNA,born in a certain country, race, religion, you were influenced by people around you,by your education, and basically grew up to be a ZOMBIE,a follower, with opinions and ideas, the collection of all these things is YOUR KARMA,it keeps on pushing you..nothing occult and no mysteries here.
your original nature ,has undergone,"conditioning"...
meditation,(and koan training,,in the rinzai sect)is an effort to DE-CONDITION yourself...so as you attain enlightment and discover your true essence.free from"conditioning"
it is an effort to "DE-condition"masks have been put on you...and you take those masks for real...who is behind all those masks ?
your true nature.Karma ,is an ilusory phenomenon, yet, you take it for real, hence one's questions and anxieties.
basically one is living in a dream,as we say in zen "one can wake up TO THE DREAM,but not FROM it".unless one gets enlightened and drops the ego, easy to say ,very hard to realize.
seperate the reflections in the mirror, from the mirror itself.one ,unfortunately remains in those reflections taking them for real, and the real is taken for "Unreal".
