"Idiot compassion" is a termed coined by a Tibetan master. It means you don't give a drunk a drink just because you think it is compassionate. Or give a gun to a friend that is talking about Killing themselves.
I'm sure Kornfeld has spoken about it.
It is a contempoary that coined the word and I just can't think of his name. He started the Shamhbala Centers.
