Hello,I am not confident i can give you any helpfull advice. I have suffered a little depression last year some flat times. I was told about the book Yoga for depression; its very good. http://www.yogafordepression.com/
I found this site a few years ago also.
http://buddhism.kalachakranet.org/depression.htmlMy feeling, and i might be off the mark here, is that meditation is an introverting practice and depression is an introverted affliction. It might be helpfull to not meditate whilst in depression.
Having said that guided contemplation might assist in a shift of mind to enable some meditation.
I try to see it as positive because whenever we make some progress on the path and purify some old Karma, it can ripen quicker and present apparent obstacles. They dont last, it will always end, although its not always easy to keep that in mind.
If you cant meditate then perhaps some Buddhist reading material might be good.Tie your mind tight to the Buddha Dharma, stay close to it, there can be no bad results from studying some Dharma.
I truly wish you well with your endeavours, stay in touch here.
"When we let go of our battles and open our hearts to things as they are, then we come to rest in the present moment. This is the begginning and the end of spiritual practice." Jack Kornfield
It is always advisable to get the advice of a qualified teacher of Buddhism.
Peace to your mind
Ciaran
