Gassho Ann,Compassion. I love this word, it's roots and age.
From the latin Com and Patti which means taking on the feelings/sufferings of someone; not just the physical nessessaties. It is taking the deepest level of understanding of the person. I loved your thoughts and one line stayed with me: "lacking somewhat in compassion and I feel this carries over to the times when I have to deal with my mother"; I don't think you are lacking in compassion when the decisions about money or ownership or dealing with lawyers are the issues of the day. These things are part of the understanding, try to be your Mother. How is she really thinking and feeling.Compassion for me always works. And it keeps you quiet and peaseful at a time when you need meditation and prayer.Metta,
Richard
